What is in a Grab Bag?
Each Grab Bag holds 14 individually labeled specimens, with the name and source location of every piece, if known. They come in two sizes: small ($10) and large ($15), plus shipping. The mix of rocks, minerals, fossils and sea shells varies from bag to bag.
Do you ship, and where?
Yes. John ships within the continental US (the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C.). John will quote shipping to your address before you pay. Details are on the Shipping & Returns page.
How do I pay?
Ask John about payment options when you order. He confirms the total, including shipping, before you pay.
What is your return or guarantee policy?
We stand behind everything we sell. If something isn't right, contact John and he will make it right. The full terms are on the Shipping & Returns page.
Where can I find you in person?
At six gem and mineral shows a year: Jackson (last weekend in February), Biloxi (3rd weekend in May), Bessemer (Labor Day weekend), Huntsville (2nd weekend in October), Mobile (Thanksgiving weekend) and Montgomery (1st weekend in December). John also holds occasional invitation-only house shows.
What is the difference between longwave and shortwave UV?
Longwave UV is about 365 nm and shortwave UV is about 254 nm. Some minerals glow under one, some under the other and some under both, often in different colors. Shortwave UV can harm eyes and skin, so always wear UV-blocking glasses.
Do you buy collections?
Yes. John buys collections and estates. Send a few photos, a rough count and anything you know about where the pieces came from.
